NGOs Unite to Support Top Hill Primary School’s Hurricane Relief Back-to-School Efforts

Winsome Wishes for Kids (WWKIDS) and Give Back Jamaica, Inc. (GBJ) are proud to join forces in a vital initiative to support the Top Hill Primary School in the district of Top Hill, St. Elizabeth.

The school, which serves nearly 200 students, suffered extensive damage due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl on July 4, 2024. The surrounding community of Tryall District was also hard-hit, with over 75% of the students’ families losing their homes and belongings.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the success of our fundraising efforts, we were able to provide essential back to school support to more than 90 students, including uniforms, shoes, school supplies, and light refreshments. The handover event, scheduled for 10 a.m., saw eager families lining up as early as 9 a.m., anticipating the much-needed assistance. Prior to the event, on July 25, families were invited to register for support, during which time children’s shoes and uniforms were carefully measured to ensure a perfect fit.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our donors from Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, New York, and the United Kingdom. A special thanks goes out to our corporate partners—Sammy’s Shoes, Timarely Haberdashery, Tiny Tots in Santa Cruz, Totally Delicious and Bishop Paul Brown and the First Pentecostal Assembly of God—whose thoughtful and generous contributions made this initiative possible.

This collaboration represents a powerful synergy between two organizations dedicated to humanitarian efforts. With a shared mission to improve the lives of young people, WWKIDS and GBJ are committed to delivering programs that support childhood development, enhance classroom experiences, and improve living conditions for those in need.

Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of these students and their families as they prepare for the new school year.
